~ Terraced Fountain ~
This Fountain was constructed in
the Mid 50's by the Bank Construction people. It had colored lights
on the water spray. In the summer evenings it was run daily.
Chic Bell was its founder.
Before the fountain was the Auditorium and
open stands for sitting, which had been torn down. In this picture
the three men on the right are William Robertson, printer, Alec Robertson,
forester and road maintainer, & George Wackym, business man. The three men left to right at the wall are Percy Minchington, souvenir
stand operator, Dominic, florist, and Charlie Jeff, printer, garden
supervisor.
From the picture on the left you can
see the stage in the background. From the stage and beer garden area, you
would walk past the fountain in the direction that the cars are traveling.
This would take you past the souvenir stand and towards the miniature car
track and the Pony Rides. From there, you could walk up the hill to the
Lion Cage
Looking up from the fountain, you can see the Vegetarian
Restaurant. Above the terraces was the Aviary & Zoo,
